Creative & Direct Action Tactics (From the ‘Colors’ Zine)

[!CAUTION] OPERATIONAL SECURITY & LEGAL NOTICE This guide is a historical transcription of content from an underground protest zine. It details a range of creative, disruptive, and in some cases confrontational protest tactics used globally. This content is provided for informational and historical purposes only. Many of these tactics involve property destruction, vandalism, or assault, which carry severe felony legal consequences. The authors of this repository do not endorse illegal acts.

This guide represents a different tactical approach from the defensive cybersecurity guides elsewhere in this project, focusing on physical disruption and symbolic messaging.

1. Currency as a Medium: Protesting with Banknotes

Because currency circulates widely and crosses borders, it has historically been used as a vector for uncensorable political messaging.

2. Anti-Surveillance Tactics (‘Camover’)

Note: These tactics describe property destruction and carry serious legal consequences (felony destruction of government property).

In response to the proliferation of CCTV, activists in Europe initiated the “Camover” movement, turning camera destruction into a competitive game.

3. Homemade Shields & Defense

During intense riot control situations, activists have developed DIY armor to protect against rubber bullets, baton strikes, and tear gas canisters.

4. Disruption and Body-Protest

Using the human body itself to disrupt infrastructure or convey a message.
